Head of Access Services

Mindful of the Amherst College motto, Terras irradient, the Head of Access Services at the Robert Frost Library leads a department that makes Amherst’s extraordinary collections, both print and electronic, available to all who need them, and helps Amherst’s faculty and students obtain information and publications necessary for their research.  Working with a broad range of colleagues within and beyond the library, the Head of Access Services develops networks and relationships that yield efficient workflows satisfying the high expectations of those we serve.  Such work requires the incumbent to lead an experienced staff in a collegial fashion to rethink traditional practices and priorities, including the distribution of responsibilities among positions and library departments, while matching qualifications and talents with know and yet-to-be-identified needs.

Please see https://www.amherst.edu/library/about/jobs for the full job description.

A review of applications will begin immediately and continues until the position is filled.

Minimum qualifications:  Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution or foreign equivalent is required.  A minimum of three years leading a library department or other significant library unit is preferred.
