Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor – Multiple Positions

DescriptionThe iSchool at the University of Maryland College Park invites highly qualified individuals to apply for multiple tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in an environment in which research and teaching share the highest priority., colleagues offer and expect collaboration in all phases of academic life, and rich resources support research and teaching. We seek individuals with dynamic research programs that will complement our existing research strengths. We invite these outstanding individuals to join a faculty who engage in a broad scope of research with the shared theme of information, technology, and people.
The ideal candidates will:
· Lead and conduct cutting edge, high impact research that shapes the information field;
· Demonstrate the potential for exemplary and innovative teaching within one or more of our educational programs;
· Exhibit evidence of relevant and effective professional service; and
· Work comfortably within an interdisciplinary environment within the iSchool, University, and broader community.
The iSchool enrolls over 500 students in four degree programs: Ph.D., a Master of Library Science (MLS), a Master of Information Management (MIM), and a new Master of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The iSchool is home to nationally ranked programs in Archives and Records Management and School Library Media and is known internationally for its vibrant program of interdisciplinary research in information access, retrieval, and use; digital libraries; information policy; information and diverse populations; information seeking and use in electronic environments; interface design; cloud computing; health information/health information technology; and social media technologies. Faculty members conduct individual and collaborative research with partners on campus and beyond; several hold appointments and other affiliations in Computer Science, Education, English, Institute for Advanced Computing Studies, and Applied Mathematics & Statistics, and Scientific Computation.
Areas of particular interest include:

Highly qualified individuals with other areas of expertise relevant to the iSchool also are encouraged to apply. These are 9-month tenure-track or tenured appointments, with opportunities for grant-funded summer research and/or summer teaching. Salary and benefits are competitive based upon qualifications and experience.
Qualifications. Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a related area; demonstrated record of research accomplishments or demonstrated potential for research excellence as appropriate to rank; demonstrated record of attracting outside funding or demonstrated potential for attracting funding as appropriate to rank; and evidence of effective and innovative teaching.
