The Position:

The Thomas J. Long Business Library is one of over 20 subject specialty libraries on the Berkeley campus. The Long Library is located in the Haas School of Business, but reports to the University Library. Its mission is to serve the information needs of over 2,000 students, faculty, and staff in the Haas School as well as other campus departments needing business information. The Long Library has over 160,000 print volumes, 1.4 million microforms, and thousands of serials in print and electronic formats. Responsibilities

Film and Media Archivist
Responsibilities: The Film and Media Archivist is responsible for building, promoting, and administering the documentary film and media archive, which encompasses film, videotapes, audiotapes, and associated documents relating to social justice and democracy in the United States, and locally produced documentary work. With the Head of Special Collections, the archivist will plan for the maintenance of the collection and for the addition of new collections. The Graduate Library Reference Department seeks creative, client-centered, advanced subject librarians to support the research, teaching, and learning of faculty and students in the English Language and Literature, History, and American Culture departments. As a liaison to one or more of these prominent academic departments, the subject specialist will assume direct responsibility for collection development, reference and research consultation, and instruction to a diverse community of faculty and students engaged in scholarship and study typically centered in one or more of the following disciplines: American Culture, American History, American Literature, British History, British Literature, Comparative Literature, French History, or Religious Studies. Outreach Librarian and Curator
The Special Collections Library seeks an experienced, user-centered, specialist to invite and support teaching and learning of faculty, students, and others using its collections. The person in this position will promote the use of collections in appropriate courses through direct contact with departments and individual faculty, as well as with subject liaisons among librarian colleagues. The position also holds responsibility for curating collections in the humanities and participating in the general public service work of the unit. The successful candidate will bring to the position a deep knowledge of book history and book arts and a passion for sharing that knowledge, and will have the ability to function as part of a collegial, dynamic, and creative team within the Special Collections Library and the University Library.
Head of Electronic Acquisitions and Licensing Unit
In keeping pace with the fast changing trends in technologies related to the delivery of full-text scholarly resources, the Technical Services Division is seeking an innovative and energetic librarian to coordinate the Library’s electronic resource licensing and acquisitions efforts. With a service-oriented outlook, this librarian will work directly with colleagues library-wide to manage a complex and rapidly expanding e-resources collection. We seek a librarian interested in exploring the following: Development of an electronic resource management system; design of a flexible and efficient ordering and licensing workflow; Impact of archival and perpetual rights on collection development decisions; new standards for acquisitions and licensing metadata.

Administrative Librarian: Head of Access Services

Grateful Dead Archivist
Under the general direction of the Head of Special Collections and Archives, the GDA Archivist will provide managerial and curatorial oversight of the Grateful Dead Archive, plan for and oversee the physical and digital processing of Archives related material, and promote the GDA to the public and facilitate its use by scholars, fans, and students.
MINIMUM Qualifications:
• Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent accredited graduate archives management program.
• Significant, demonstrated experience working with books, manuscripts, photographs, recordings, or other material in a special collections & archives environment.
• Knowledge of the access tools for special collections and archival material and the standards and procedures for their preservation and conservation.
• Demonstrated experience developing processing plans and creating finding aids in accordance with national standards.
• Knowledge of and ability to maintain awareness of developments in archival processing, digital information technologies, and their uses in special collections and archives.
• Expert knowledge in the history and scholarship of contemporary popular music, or American vernacular culture, preferably the history and influence of the Grateful Dead.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to promote and present the archive to multiple audiences.
• Prior experience directing the work of others.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience working in public services in an academic environment.
• Demonstrated experience working on outreach and other donor related activities.

The Purdue BCC is a nationally acclaimed organization and treasured educational resource. Library
The BCC library contains materials relevant to the historical, sociological, political and cultural aspects of the Black experience. The library houses more than 7,000 volumes and subscribes to over 40 periodicals including scholarly journals, magazines and newspapers. Electronic resources are also available.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
Bachelor’s degree in African American Studies or equivalent combination of course work and relevant experience.

Two years Librarian experience required. Experience in an academic or research library preferred.

Responsibilities
Research, select and order library materials including monographs and periodicals, media, electronic resources and vertical file materials.
Instruct faculty, students, staff and community users in the effective use of the library resources through formal workshops, curriculum-based instruction and individualized instruction.
Supervise student assistants including hiring, training, developing and evaluating in circulation and shelving activities.
Promote the library services through such activities as tours, developing on-site and off-site displays and outreach programs.
Compile bibliographies and writing copy for brochures and press releases.
Coordinate the preservation of materials including monographs and periodical binding and repair.
Ensure BCC library holdings are accurately reflected in Purdue University Libraries online catalogue and remote bibliographic databases. Maintain security of materials and equipment in the library.
