St. Peters's College - Director of the Libraries

Saint Peter’s College—an urban, Catholic institution in the Jesuit tradition and dedicated to “Education. One Student at a Time.”—seeks a dynamic leader as its Director of the Libraries. Located in Jersey City, NJ, the College has an enrollment of 3,000—2,300 undergraduate and a over 700 graduate students. The Library Director is chief administrator of the university library with responsibility for the quality of library services for students, faculty and staff and assists the Associate Provost for Information Services (CIO) in providing leadership in technology planning and working collaboratively with campus constituents in setting priorities for the deployment of information technology to carry out the teaching, research, service and administrative goals of the university.

The Library Director has responsibility for ensuring that the library carries out its mission within the context of the University mission. The Library Director oversees the management of the Information Services Division in the absence of the CIO and assists the CIO in carrying out the mission of the Information Services Division to provide information and technology resources for all campus offices.

The Digital Services Librarian will develop, market, and deliver a comprehensive suite of digital library services. The Science Librarian will be responsible for faculty liaison, collection development and the delivery of information literacy programs for assigned disciplines and will participate in research consultations and outreach activities to departments and research centres. Responsibilities include selection of information resources, collection management and evaluation in such fields as nursing, biology, chemistry and physics. Knowledge of health, science and technology literature and reference resources, and awareness of emerging trends in scholarly communication. Experience with Web authoring software and Web support technologies; familiarity with Web 2.0 technologies preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated skills in teaching and public communications. The Science Librarian position is a three-year contractually limited appointment to be filled as Adjunct Librarian level and appropriate for a librarian with up to three years post-MLS experience. Interlibary Loan Librarian Tenure Track

The Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library seeks a creative, energetic, and service-oriented individual to serve as a librarian for the Interlibrary Services and Bibliographic & Metadata Services Teams at the rank of Assistant Librarian. Reporting to the Team Leaders for the Access Services and Bibliographic and Metadata Services Teams, this librarian is responsible for supervising the Interlibrary Services Team and for Original Cataloging.

As a librarian on the Bibliographic and Metadata Services Team, the successful candidate will create original cataloging records for theses, audio-visual, philanthropy, and foreign language materials, and support the Team Leader for Bibliographic and Metadata Services with other duties and projects as assigned.

As Interlibrary Loan Librarian, the successful candidate provides active leadership and direction in managing 2 full-time paraprofessional staff and 1-2 FTE student library assistants in the day-to-day operations of interlibrary loan and document delivery services. Responsibilities include maintaining the unit’s web presence, coordinating the library’s copyright compliance, managing materials and student wage budgets, statistical reporting, and representing the library to consortium partners at the state, regional, and national level. As Interlibrary Loan Librarian, this individual keeps current on trends in the profession and provides leadership in evaluating, recommending, and implementing new technologies and service models.

IUPUI is an urban research and academic health science university with 20 schools and academic units. Chief Librarian Frick Art Reference Library

The Frick Art Reference Library was founded by Helen Clay Frick in 1920 “to encourage and develop the study of the fine arts, and to advance the general knowledge of kindred subjects.” Today, it is one of the finest art history libraries in the United States. In addition to a book collection relating to the European and American fine arts and decorative arts from the 4th to the mid-20th century, the library also houses an extensive photographic research archive holding over one million photographs that document the work of over 36,000 artists. Although the Library was founded as a separate institution, financially supported almost entirely by Miss Frick until 1984, it is now an integral part of The Frick Collection and serves as a unique resource for the study and appreciation of art and its history.

The library has an operating budget of about $4 million and 55-60 staff, of whom 20 are library professionals. It is a member of the New York Art Resources Consortium (NYARC), the Association of Research Institutes in Art History, and the RLG (Research Library Group). The Andrew W. Mellon Chief Librarian reports directly to Anne L. Poulet, Director of the Frick Collection since 2003.

The Frick Collection seeks in its Chief Librarian an institution builder who can work within the framework of a distinctive museum of art. Informatics and Engineering Technology Librarian

The Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library (http://www.ulib.iupui.edu) seeks a creative, energetic, and service oriented individual to serve as the Informatics and Engineering Technology Librarian at the rank of Assistant Librarian. RESPONSIBILITIES:
As the bibliographer for Jewish Studies, maintains and integrates the following responsibilities:
· Maintains contact with the faculty and students utilizing the Price Library of Judaica to ensure that the collections and services provided by the Library support needs. Informs this clientele of relevant library issues.
· Develops collection management policy and approval plans for the Price Library of Judaica. Stays informed of relevant Jewish Studies resources available in other libraries and collections.
· Reviews notification slips, trade and national bibliographies, advertisements, catalogues, and similar sources so as to initiate current and retrospective acquisition orders in all formats enhancing the Judaica collections in support of the academic program. Selects appropriate materials received by gift; reviews approval plan profiles and receipts for Judaica, and advises the Acquisitions and Licensing Dept. on sources of supply.
· Works with the library Gifts and Exchange programs to solicit and review gift collections and to establish exchange programs for Jewish Studies.
· Establishes cataloging and preservation priorities for Judaica materials. Makes storage, transfer, and deselection decisions for Judaica materials.
· Participates in the reformatting and digitization programs to ensure conversion of important items in jeopardy.
· Assists the Cataloging and Metadata Dept. in the copy cataloging of Hebraica and selection of materials for outsourcing of cataloging services.
· Provides consultative services to the faculty and advanced graduate students in Jewish Studies, usually by referral from public service areas or by specific arrangement with the academic program area faculty.
· Develops and maintains a professional relationship with other Judaica bibliographers, providing leadership at the national level in various organizations.
· Participates in the Special and Area Studies Collections departmental strategic planning process.
· Prepares collection assessment studies and defines resource needs.
· Participates in the Library’s development program.
· Participates in the Library’s exhibition program.
· Participates in the Library’s research and publication program.
· Serves on Library and departmental consultative bodies as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:· Thorough knowledge of one Jewish language and a working knowledge of one additional Jewish language· Strong familiarity with Jewish history and culture· An ALA accredited MLS degree (or foreign equivalency) or graduate degree in the bibliographic subject area or related field· A minimum of three (3) years experience in an academic or research library, with experience in managing and enhancing library collections, including those supporting Jewish Studies or other relevant and equivalent professional experience· Effective oral and written communication skills in English· Familiarity with information and digital-based technologies and automated library systems· Strong potential for meeting the requirements for tenure and promotion.

Cultural Diversity Officer

The Staff Development and Cultural Diversity Officer will work under the general supervision of the Library’s Chief Operating Officer and will be expected to carry out a wide range of projects and activities supporting the Library’s diversity initiatives and the staff development needs of the University Library staff. · Facilitate communication and perform liaison functions between Library administration and Library unit activities, including the Library Diversity Committee, related to cultural diversity.
· Represent the Library at appropriate meetings and professional activities and work with various University officers and constituents in the area of cultural diversity.
· Establish outreach mechanisms for diversifying applicant pools for all Library positions.

Assist with the Library’s Librarian recruitment program and other minority outreach activities:
· Lead the minority outreach initiatives and assist the LHR staff responsible for coordinating Librarian recruitment activities.

Qualifications:

Dean of Library

The Jane Bancroft Cook Library in Sarasota, serving New College of Florida (NCF) and the Sarasota-Manatee campus of the University of South Florida (USF S-M) seeks a Dean of the Library. NCF, the Honors College of the Florida state university system is a small (800 students), residential, highly selective, highly ranked liberal arts college, known for its focus on independent undergraduate research in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. USF S-M offers upper division undergraduate and graduate programs in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Nursing, and in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. The campuses of the two schools are about a mile apart along Sarasota bay. Jane Bancroft Cook Library is on the bayfront campus of NCF, in a 75,000 sq. ft. building. It has holdings of 280,000 volumes and has access to the electronic collections and subscriptions of the Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) and the University of South Florida main campus. The library has a full-time and part-time staff of 22 and an annual operating budget of approximately $1.5 million. The library also operates a small information commons on the campus of USF S-M.

The Dean of the Library will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs of NCF and will coordinate with the Dean of Libraries of USF in Tampa, particularly on matters relating to service to faculty and students at USF S-M. The successful candidate will be responsible for all facets of the operation of the Library, both ongoing operations (including Library staff, budgets, patron services, space, collections, digital resources, information technology, relationships with cooperating libraries within the State University System), and future operations (strategic planning, space and renovation planning, enhancement of technological library services , implementation of a Smart Library grant to catalog and deliver image, sound and similar digital files, and otherwise position the library to respond to needs and opportunities of the next decades). S/he will also participate with the New College Library Association, a philanthropic support organization, in fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Library. Compensation will be competitive.

The Dean of the Library must have the ability to develop and to articulate a forward-looking vision for academic libraries in the 21st century. S/he must have a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program (with an additional advanced degree preferred) and a record of scholarly achievement and professional engagement commensurate with the level of the position. Candidates should have had successful administrative and financial management experience in an academic library, preferably for at least five years, a thorough understanding of the use of technology in a library setting, a service orientation, a collegial leadership style, and an understanding of and respect for diversity in the library and the institutions it serves. Excellent communication skills are required for this important position. The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate an organizational climate based upon respect, service, open communication, and cooperation, and will develop and execute a strategic plan to support the missions and visions of NCF and USF S-M and that of the Library. Associate Dean for Information Resources

Florida International University is a diverse research university serving more than 38,000 students. Its College of Law, authorized by the Florida Legislature in 2000, opened its doors to its Inaugural Class in 2002. The law school was provisionally approved by the American Bar Association in 2004 and fully approved in 2006, the shortest possible time for attaining full accreditation. The College of Law is seeking an Associate Dean for Information Resources, with primary responsibilities for the Law Library. The Associate Dean may also play an instructional role in the legal research curriculum of the College of Law and, depending upon qualification, in other curricular offerings.

Substantial experience as director of an academic law library is preferred. Responsibilities: Reporting to the University Librarian, the Information Literacy Librarian

• Coordinates and promotes the Library’s instruction program and its assessment;

Head of Digital Services & Systems (Tenure-Track)

Rollins College is looking for a service-oriented Librarian enthusiastic about leading a department responsible for the ongoing development and deployment of digital resources, services, and systems provided by the Olin Library and excited about developing digital services and systems for the liberal arts college library of the 21st century. Reporting to the Library Director, this is a tenure track faculty position, and the successful candidate is expected to be appointed as an assistant professor, although previous experience and qualifications may be taken into account in determining initial rank.

Management of the Digital Services & Systems Department and supervision of two faculty librarians and two staff members responsible for administration of all digital systems deployed by the Olin Library, including the Sirsi Integrated Library System (ILS), Serials Solutions Knowledge base, and 360 Suite, the library's web presence, EZProxy, ILLiad, RefWorks, ContentDM, Turnitin, and all third-party vendor online resources (article databases etc.) In line with the library's strategic plan, integrate all library systems and maintain awareness of developing opportunities for integration within and outside the library. Work closely with Public Services, Technical Services, and Special Collections & Archives to implement and develop digital services, systems and resources. Maintain awareness of trends in ILS and other library systems and advise librarians on library technology choices. Maintain a close working relationship with appropriate Information Technology personnel. Assess needs and coordinate library technology training for all library personnel. Oversee interlibrary loan and collection development operations of the Olin Library and develop ways to integrate data generated by both operations into the planning and assessment of library operations. Oversee the maintenance all usage, licensing, and budgetary data concerning library operations and effectively incorporate this data into library management, planning, and liaison.

Like all full time librarians at Rollins, the successful candidate will participate in direct service to users including reference, instruction, and liaison with academic departments. The level and extent of participation varies based on other assigned responsibilities.

MLS from an ALA accredited library school or an equivalent degree is required. Preferred qualifications include supervisory experience and Sirsi ILS administration experience or Solaris/Unix experience and scripting or programming experience with shell and perl scripts.
