The University of Southern California (USC) Libraries seeks an energetic, experienced librarian to oversee and participate in Special Collections’ rare books cataloging operations, including establishing and documenting practices, and managing metadata and cataloging workflows for rare books and other materials. The Rare Books Cataloging Librarian (#285) also assists with public services operations, including reference, instruction and outreach across the Libraries, and providing tours for donors and others. Requirements: ALA-accredited MLS typically required; minimum of 2 years cataloging experience in an academic or research library. Rare Books Cataloging Librarian (#252 and #253)

USC Libraries is seeking two contract librarians to catalog rare books in Special Collections. Reporting to the Head, Special Collections, the librarians the Rare Books Cataloging Librarians (#252 and #253) will be responsible for original cataloging of rare books, serials, pamphlets, and ephemera for special collections in various languages. Requirements: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; knowledge of AACR2, LC and Dewey classification, LCSH, MARC formats, online catalog management procedures/techniques; working knowledge of OCLC cataloging utilities, and local integrated online library systems.
