Electronic Resources Unit Coordinator

The University of Michigan, University Library, seeks an Electronic Resources Unit Coordinator to assume both a leadership and liaison role in working with staff from all areas of the Library to enhance access to electronic resources. The Coordinator will provide support for the cataloging, acquisition, processing, and maintenance of electronic resources, will communicate with staff from throughout the Library on issues related to electronic resources, and will participate in library-wide efforts to connect users with electronic resources. This position will report to the Head of Technical Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies creative thinking, experience, technical expertise, and knowledge of the information needs of users to the provision of access to electronic resources. Participates in the ongoing design and development of library-wide systems, workflows, and policies for managing electronic resources. Develops policies, analyzes processes, and facilitates workflow and communication among the Technical Services unites responsible for acquiring, licensing, cataloging, and maintaining access to electronic resources.

Collaborates with the Electronic Resources Officer to coordinate the selection and processing of electronic resources. Works with the ERO as well as staff in Public Services, Collection Development, and the Scholarly Publishing Office in the creation of cross-departmental policies used to manage electronic resources.

Participates in the implementation of an Electronic Resource Management system.

Monitors trends in emerging technologies, copyright, and licensing. Keeps current with developments in electronic products and services, including the use of open source software to manage electronic resources.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required: ALA accredited Masters Degree in Library or Information Science; three to five (3-5) years of experience in a large academic library; ability to work collaboratively in a complex, culturally diverse organizational setting; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analytical skills; knowledge of and/or experience in the management of electronic resources; knowledge of electronic services and Web environments; knowledge of contemporary practices, issues, and trends for managing electronic resources.
Desired: Experience working with federated search tools, open URL access, link resolvers, Electronic Resource Management systems, e-cataloging standards, non-MARC metadata, vendor supplied bibliographic records. Conversant with basic techniques for local digitization and management of information resources, including the methods for maintaining an institutional repository.

BENEFITS, RANK, & SALARY
Rank is anticipated at Associate or Sr. Associate Librarian. Final rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience. (This position, however, may be filled at the Assistant, Associate, Senior Associate, or full Librarian level.) Electronic Resources & Instruction Librarian (2 positions)

The Long Island University Library at the Brooklyn Campus serves a multicultural community of users and provides extensive access to print and electronic resources in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and health sciences, including pharmacy and nursing. The Electronic Resources & Instruction Librarians will have a thorough grounding in traditional library services as well as demonstrated expertise in digital and emerging technologies.

These are two tenure-track faculty positions which include extensive instruction and reference responsibilities in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Persons in these positions will be fluent in new information and communication technologies, especially Web 2.0 and similar library-related applications; be able to provide a high level of reference service; teach classes in the Library’s information literacy and curriculum-integrated instruction programs; and also be highly committed to providing client-centered services. The candidates will also be familiar with copyright and intellectual property issues.

Requirements: MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution and at least three years of reference library experience are required. Experience in an academic library is highly desirable. The candidates will possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and presentation skills. The candidates will also have the ability to interact and work with a diverse range of people including undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and librarians; ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The successful candidates will demonstrate personal initiative in applying relevant technologies to teaching, learning, and instructional design. They will be able to meet changing user needs; to learn, to critically evaluate and to troubleshoot new technologies. The candidates will have the teaching skills necessary to create and deliver a wide range of information literacy initiatives; will collaborate and coordinate communication with Library administration and faculty; and have the research skills to work and collaborate with faculty to support their research and teaching initiatives. The candidates will have expertise in an online medium and have the vision to translate traditional library services into online media, including digital information and the management of knowledge.

Preferred: In addition to the required qualifications, the candidates should have project management and assessment skills that include an ability to sell ideas and market library services. In addition, candidates should be familiar with library-related products such as OCLC, ILLiad, SFX, MARC, and metadata standards for the representation of library information in electronic format; and should have knowledge of Web design principles and experience with Web site development. Also preferred are second-subject Master’s degree or 30 additional graduate credits, and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.

Director of Technical Services

Information Management Specialist/Librarian

Overall Function:

Qualifications/Requirements:
· MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited ALA institution
· Experience with taxonomy development. Familiarity with folksonomies and other meta data strategies
· Knowledge of standards, procedures and practices used for information lifecycle management
· Experience in the development, management and maintenance of policies
· Knowledge of records management and imaging systems
· Experience with enterprise content management systems, search engines and other relevant technical applications. Knowledge of Tower Trim Context a plus.

Science Librarian

Reporting to the Head of Science and Math Libraries, this position supports the education, outreach, reference, and collection management endeavors of the Geoscience, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics libraries/collections and relevant academic departments.

Position Description: Reporting to the Assistant Director for Collections and Outreach, the Clinical Education Librarian plans, promotes and provides information services that support the needs of residents and, to a lesser degree, faculty, researchers, staff and students, of the Carver College of Medicine and the affiliated hospital.
· As liaison to academic and clinical units, cultivates relationships with residents and faculty to identify opportunities for library partnerships with education and health care programs.

Women's Studies Librarian

RESPONSIBILITIES
Working directly with faculty and research scientists in the Women’s Studies Department and the Institute for Research on Women and Gender and under the direction of the Head of Reference and Instruction, the successful candidate will assume these responsibilities:

· Provide support to the Women’s Studies Department and to the Institute for Research on Women and Gender.
· Provide leadership for collection development in the interdisciplinary areas of women and gender studies, sexuality studies, and the intersection of gender, race, and sexuality.

· Provide direct reference assistance to users at the Graduate Library Information Center or via virtual reference services.
· Collaborate on special projects, participating in long-term planning and service assessment, and serving on committees and task forces.

QUALIFICATIONS
· ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science, or an equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience in a discipline significantly engaged in examining critical issues in the area of gender studies.
· Subject knowledge of the methodologies, and information resources relevant to research and study around questions informing the lives of women, and issues related to gender and sexuality research across multiple disciplines.
· Knowledge of information tools and resources relevant to research in the humanities, social sciences, and medical fields.
· Experience and interest in the application of technology to research and teaching along with a strong commitment to public services to a diverse community.

Arts Liaison Librarian (Music, Art, & Design, Film)

The Georgia State University Library seeks a committed and energetic librarian to provide innovative teaching and research support of the arts. The departments of responsibility are: Music, Art & Design, Film & Video, and Theater. For these departments of responsibility the librarian will develop collections in all formats. Responsibilities
The successful candidate serves as liaison to assigned departments; meets regularly with members of the departments to provide information and instruction about library services, collections, and programs. The successful candidate will deliver quality, in-depth reference and consultation services in the designated subject areas; develop library collections in the assigned areas, including participation in the management of the library materials budget; promote the library and information literacy; and foster communication between the assigned departments and the library. Liaison librarians assist with the general reference service that includes desk and virtual reference hours and are responsible for occasional weekend and evening hours. As faculty members, liaison librarians serve on library and university committees and engage in scholarly activities.

Requirements
ALA-accredited MLS and relevant experience in one of the advertised subject areas. Familiarity with resources in a variety of formats, skill in use of technology and web based applications, and excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. PREFERRED: Master’s Degree in one of the advertised subject areas. Experience in Collection Development within one of the subject areas, especially music, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated interest in research and professional activities.

Salary and Rank

Film and Media Digital Archivist

The Washington University Libraries Film & Media Archive seeks an enthusiastic, innovative and technically-oriented colleague to join one of the most dynamic and interesting media archives in the nation. The Film and Media Digital Archivist will assume management responsibilities of all digital activities and initiatives in the Archive. This individual will coordinate efforts to digitize materials in the collection and develop strategies for long-term preservation of these digital assets. Library Development Director

Overview:
The Library Development Director will have a dual report to the University Librarian of Portland State Library and to the Vice President for University Relations or the VP’s designee. This is an unranked, unrepresented, full-time, 12-month appointment. This position provides leadership and implementation of activities to enhance the fundraising program for Portland State University Library. The Director works closely with the University Librarian, Library staff, Portland State University Foundation, and Portland State Office of University Development to ensure that the fund-raising program and external relations are operated in accordance with the mission, procedures, priorities and needs of the Library and University. Some evening or weekend work and travel are required.

Required Qualifications:

THE POSITION
