E-Learning Librarian

Washington University Libraries seek a service-oriented and innovative librarian to serve as the E-Learning Librarian providing service to the Washington University community. 

Responsibilities

The E-Learning Librarian will lead collaborative efforts to explore, identify, assess, implement and provide training for emerging technologies in support of the University’s teaching, learning, and research. The Librarian is responsible for all operations of the E-Learning Commons including assisting users; hiring, training, and evaluating personnel, troubleshooting hardware and software problems; and scheduling facility use.  The E-Learning Librarian will work with faculty and students to explore library resources and apply innovative multimedia technologies to their work. The Commons will provide services that include assistance with strategies for management of scholarly and personal digital assets; preparation of interactive tutorials and course modules; and development of multimedia projects.

The E-Learning Librarian will routinely monitor trends in emerging technologies and identify possible uses in library services.  As appropriate, the E-Learning Librarian will provide training in these new technologies for library staff as well as the campus community.   In collaboration with other library staff, the E-learning Librarian must be proactive in selectively and strategically implementing and marketing emerging technologies that best match our users’ needs and preferences. The E-Learning Librarian will work collaboratively with library staff to provide ongoing usability testing and redesign of user interfaces to library services.  The Librarian will also collaborate with other campus units offering similar services.

Qualifications

Required:  Master’s degree in library/information science, media, instructional technology or a related field; Demonstrated ability to thrive and lead in a collaborative environment; Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; Ability to interact with users and staff and develop innovative ways to identify and meet their evolving needs; Demonstrated ability to learn new technology tools and skills, to conduct training for users and staff, and strong desire to share this knowledge with others; Ability to see technological possibilities in and outside of the library world and the vision to turn these possibilities into new library services; Demonstrated ability in web based tools, imaging and/or video software, bibliographic and presentation software and relevant emerging technologies. 
Preferred
: Relevant experience in libraries or higher education.

Northeastern University Libraries seeks a dynamic, energetic, knowledgeable and self-motivated librarian to join its dedicated, innovative, and service-oriented staff.

The Metadata Librarian II, as part of the Metadata Management Department, will provide original metadata for analog and digital resources in all subject areas using a wide array of metadata schema and content standards including RDA. The Metadata Librarian should be familiar with and have expertise in various metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, content standards, and encoding methods. The Metadata Librarian II will be responsible for managing and supervising metadata projects and will work closely with the new Digital Library Management program and emerging services for the campus. The Metadata Librarian II will manage, supervise, and train the Department’s Metadata Assistants including setting daily and long-term priorities, managing workflow, training staff in new content standards, and reviewing and revising metadata created by the Metadata Assistants.

Qualifications
ALA accredited master's degree in Library or Information Science required; 3 to 5 years cataloging or metadata experience preferred; demonstrated knowledge of established and emerging national and international metadata standards, metadata schemas, and the latest trends and issues in libraries and information science. The successful candidate should have excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, communication, supervisory, and project management skills as well as a strong service orientation, technical aptitude, and a demonstrated commitment to staff development and diversity in the workplace.

Responsibilities:  The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for working with the Library Board to develop long-term plans and directions for the Library; planning and directing the overall operations and management of the Library; providing effective team development and leadership to the staff; working collaboratively with civic organizations and community agencies; and working effectively with elected officials at the state and county level.  The CEO functions with a maximum degree of latitude for independent action within the scope of the organizational policy set by the Library Board. Qualifications: an MLS from an ALA-accredited program and ability to qualify for Indiana Librarian I certification; ten years of progressively responsible experience in library work and at least six years of administrative duties including responsible experience in library management and administration, finance and budget administration, personnel management, delivery systems for library services, library automation and fundraising. Experience in an urban public library system, experience working in a union environment, and success reporting to a policy-making board are highly desirable.
 
Compensation: The starting salary range is $125,000-150,000 with a competitive benefits package.
