General Description: Boise State University seeks applicants for the new faculty position of Librarian/Archivist in Special Collections. Responsibilities include providing physical and intellectual control of archival and manuscript collections through appraisal, arrangement, description, and creation of finding aids; reference work; collection care and preservation; digitization and metadata assignment; and maintenance of rare book collections. The Librarian/Archivist will participate in outreach, exhibitions, and other programs and direct the work of student assistants, interns, and special hires in processing and digitization projects. The position reports to the Head of Special Collections.
Minimum qualifications: Masters degree from an ALA accredited program; coursework and/or experience working with manuscripts and archives; strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred qualifications: Work experience with EAD and DACS; experience with digitization and assignment of metadata; college-level study of American history; familiarity with history of the Western United States.
Salary and Appointment: Minimum salary of $40,000. Comprehensive benefit package. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status and academic rank. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Instructional Technology Librarian
Centered in the Knowledge Navigation Center (KNC), the Instructional Technology Librarian also participates in a wide range of established and developing instruction programs. The Knowledge Navigation Center and the Faculty Exploratory are two of several Library consultation and instructional facilities designed to assist the campus in understanding and applying new technologies. The librarian also assists with management of the instructional technology facilities, including primary oversight for hiring, supervising and training hourly staff. As a member of the Graduate Library Reference staff, the Instructional Technology Librarian provides reference service at the central Reference and Information Center and through the Library's virtual information service. This position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to support the University community through innovative program development, effective teaching, and outstanding public service.

Digital Initiatives Librarian

The University of Idaho Library invites applications from innovative and service-oriented individuals for the newly-created position of Digital Initiatives Librarian. The Digital Initiatives Librarian will work closely and collaboratively with library and university employees to ensure that the University of Idaho Library’s digital initiatives are an integral part of its collections and services. Responsibilities:

This person will oversee and contribute to the content of digital collections; provide ongoing assessment of the library’s digital services; supervise and train student staff. Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Normal teaching load is three courses per semester for the ALA-accredited MLS program. Successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their specialization as well as additional elective courses at the 500 or 600 level. It is desirable for the successful candidate to also be able to teach one or more of the ILS core courses (501: Introduction to Information Science and Technology; 503: Foundations of Librarianship; 504: Reference Resources and Services; 506: Information Analysis and Organization; 680: Evaluation and Research). All faculty share student advising and committee assignments. In addition, each faculty member is expected to engage in scholarly research or creative activity each semester.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Master of library and information studies degree from an ALA-accredited program; have an earned doctorate in library and information science and technology, or related discipline; demonstrate awareness of social issues; be committed to library services for culturally and ethnically diverse populations, and demonstrate ability to engage in meaningful scholarship, leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals in the discipline. Candidates with ABD status will be considered if the candidate can demonstrate they will complete the doctorate by the end of the first year of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Equivalent of two years teaching or experience in the library and information profession. Demonstrated record of scholarship. Evidence of ability to teach online courses via WebCT, WebCT-Vista.
Salary Range: Commensurate with rank and experience (current AAUP contract sets salary range for Assistant at $48,958-$67,121 and Associate at $60,477-$82,750).
Department of Information and Library Science (ILS) is one of the organizational units of the School of Communication, Information and Library Science within SCSU. ILS provides professional education graduate programs in library and information studies, including the ALA-accredited Master of Library Science, the NCATE-accredited School Media Specialist Certification, the Sixth-Year Diploma in Information Studies, as well as a B.S. program in library and information services. The MLS program provides both on-campus and online courses for students from Connecticut, New England, many other states in the United States and foreign countries. Director - Library Services - Madison Area Technical College

Administrative Salary Range 5 with a starting salary of $67,525 to $92,500 depending on qualifications and experience. MATC provides a generous benefit package. Newly hired Administrators serve a two-year probationary period.

Coordinator of Information Literacy & Library Instruction
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator of Information Literacy and Library Instruction plans, coordinates, and leads the library’s instruction program and its assessment. As a member of the Reader Service team, the Coordinator of Information Literacy and Library Instruction also serves as a reference librarian with desk coverage duties and participates in collection development in one or more subject areas. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for the library’s information literacy role on campus and will be capable of investigating and implementing new ideas and innovations in instruction and information literacy. Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and appointee must demonstrate and maintain a record of excellence in librarianship, scholarly achievement and service for reappointment, tenure, and promotion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA accredited MLS plus a second masters degree required. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to formulate ideas clearly in both written and spoken form. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and students in interpreting and advancing the work of the library in support of learning and teaching and college level reference, teaching and/or library instruction experience are essential, as is knowledge of electronic information resources. Professional library experience providing reference and instruction in an academic library and experience in developing, evaluating and managing effective library instruction programs is preferred.

Responsibilities
· Hires, trains, schedules, assigns and evaluates the work of six professional members of the Educational and Research Services division, the reference office assistant, and the Access Services Manager.
· Directs client service strategies and operations and seeks innovative approaches to information services.

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Libraries implements a vision and provides leadership for service-oriented, innovative Library collections and services that support both the University and the Library mission for advancing and supporting teaching, learning, research, scholarly communication and service. The University Library is a member of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries; the Southeastern Library Network (SOLINET), and the Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education, consisting of fourteen academic and research libraries serving nineteen institutions in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. In the past year, the Library has undergone a major transformation to provide easier access to more informational resources, the latest technology, improved customer service, a variety of study spaces, two instructional classrooms, and an information and learning commons. These facilities, along with a soon-to-be-completed coffee shop, reflect a progressive collaborative vision of technological and academic leadership. The Library subject liaisons and learning commons librarians are actively involved with teaching faculty to provide library instruction in support of information fluency and providing consultations for students in support of learning. In addition, librarians have developed tools such as blogs, web-based research guides, and interactive tutorials to foster communication with faculty and students.
The library’s carefully selected collections include 1,420,000 volumes designed to serve varied research and instructional needs at the undergraduate and graduate levels of the university community. Special Collections and Archives contain a significant quantity of primary source material in diverse formats. Especially notable are the Southern Labor Archives and the Popular Music, Photographic, and Women’s Collections.
The Library uses the Ex Libris Voyager system and is a member of GALILEO, a statewide library consortium providing access to electronic resources and databases. The library has implemented technologies such as ILLiad, SFX, Docutek ERes, and is in the process of implementing MetaLib. The University Library is actively engaged in a number of digital initiatives, including digitizing selected materials from Special Collections and integrating library e-resources into campus learning management systems. The library is also collaborating with various campus units to explore new methods of resource sharing, the development of an institutional archive, and innovative uses of web-based technologies such as portals and content management systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent and second advanced degree. An earned doctorate is strongly preferred.
- Ten years of progressive professional experience, including five years of upper-level management experience in an academic or research library.
- Demonstrated contribution to the profession through service and scholarly publications commensurate with the rank of Professor in the Library.
- Substantive leadership record in integrating emerging information technologies amid changes in scholarly communication and demonstrated knowledge of their potential contribution of these innovations to research and library management.
- Demonstrated capacity for developing and sustaining effective relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to represent the interests of the institution and the library within collaborative programs on and off campus and to promote inter-institutional cooperation.
- Experience in the development of sources of external support, including fund-raising and grant-writing.
