Position Summary
As a member of the University Library’s senior leadership, the Associate University Librarian for Publishing (AUL for Publishing) will direct the scholarly publishing activities at the University of Michigan by overseeing the University of Michigan Press, the Scholarly Publishing Office, the Library’s Institutional Repository Deep Blue, and the Library’s Copyright Office. The AUL for Publishing will lead the development of content delivery through a financially sustainable publishing program, involving both print and electronic models, and will represent the University Library in national and international conversations about the future of scholarly publishing. This position is located within the University Library system and reports to the University Librarian.

Position Responsibilities
• Leads and coordinates a suite of publishing activities for the University Library, including the University of Michigan Press, and serves as an advisor to the university community on issues surrounding scholarly publishing activities.
• Oversees the work of the University of Michigan Press, the Scholarly Publishing Office, Deep Blue, and the Library Copyright Office.
• Serves as a liaison or coordinator for collaborative efforts such as the Text Creation Partnership.
• Represents the interests of the University Library and the University of Michigan community in the development of university policy on author rights, public domain, textbooks, fair use, and other scholarly communication and publication issues.
• Cultivates an ongoing awareness of national scholarly publishing and communication policy issues, and ensures that the university community is informed and educated about the significance of these issues in the digital environment so as to retain and enjoy the full benefits of the current and evolving intellectual property regime.
• Consults and works closely with the university’s Office of General Counsel, campus IT services, academic departments, and senior university administrators on issues and programs related to scholarly publishing.
• Supports the development and exploration of resources and content delivery strategies built on new media and networked technology platforms in the context of the resources available in a research library.
• As appropriate, coordinates efforts with regional & national organizations such as the ALA Office of Information and Technology Policy, ARL, SPARC, and others on issues and programs related to scholarly publishing and communication.
• Assumes responsibility for related duties within this evolving area of expertise.

Qualifications
Required: Significant relevant experience with emphasis on publishing in libraries, academia, scientific or scholarly journals, university press environment or other similar settings. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: academic or research library collections, services, and systems; scientific or scholarly publishing; successful management of a university or similar press environment; demonstrated ability to represent the interests of a university, based on an understanding of the technical, legal, and information policy issues of scholarly communication. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with and lead faculty, students, and academic administrators in a culturally diverse environment. Ability to think creatively in developing products and services, such as publications, workshops, conferences, and tools that meet the needs of the community.

Desired: Relevant and substantial responsible administrative experience in collection management, university press or other areas in a research library environment. Ability to communicate a strong vision of how discipline-based scholarship is changing in response to new technologies and what role libraries can play in meeting the evolving needs of scholars.

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Collections & Information Access, this librarian is responsible for the Circulation Desk, Course Reserves, Book Stacks, Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery and Building Security. This position will provide leadership, organization, and management of all library services associated with these areas. Position duties include planning, which encompasses ongoing team development, and enhancement of an excellent service culture. Responsibilities also include developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures; coordination of public areas, including building security and developing recommendations on space utilization; scheduling, supervising, training, and evaluating 9 staff members and .5 librarian; collecting and analyzing user and collections statistics; and assessment of the team’s programs and services. Brief Description
The Katherine W. Dumke Fine Arts and Architecture Library, housed in the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah, is seeking an innovative and creative librarian to work in an exciting and recently renovated learning environment of free and open inquiry combined with a commitment to excellence in service. Reporting to the Head of Fine Arts, responsibilities of the Fine Arts Librarian will include specialized research assistance, instruction, collection development for print and digital resources, outreach, and digital projects in the areas of the visual arts, art history, architecture, music, ballet, modern dance, film and theatre. Opportunities exist for building collaborations across the library, campus, and community in support of Fine Arts and interdisciplinary work. This individual will help users blend visual and textual resources in support of a new University of Utah visual, information and technology literacy initiative. This program is being developed to embed teaching of these literacies into the undergraduate curriculum to prepare students for life and work in the 21st century.

Required qualifications
• ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS by time of hire or equivalent academic credential.

Salary

Marriott Library is an ARL library with holding of nearly 3 million volumes, 32,000 journals in electronic and print formats, and a considerable number of other networked electronic resources. The University, with a student population of 29,000, is situated on a 1,500 acre campus in Salt Lake City. The library is very near completion of a large-scale renovation which includes a state- of-the-art Knowledge Commons and a center to create multimedia digital content. Essential Duties

Compensation

• The hiring range is $42,800 - $55,414. Decisions about starting salaries will be based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.

Position and Responsibilities:
Georgia State University Library seeks an enthusiastic, collegial, service-oriented and dynamic head of Digital Library Services who will provide leadership and management for information technologies, digital initiatives, and web services. The Digital Library Services Department Head, reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Learning and Technology Initiatives, leads a department consisting of two library faculty and four staff members with an increase in staff anticipated in the near future, and serves on the library administrative team that provides overall direction for the library in fulfilling the research, teaching, and service mission of the University.
The department head sets direction for the Library’s information technology environment and services through strategic planning, resource allocation and management, assessment, and policy development. Encourages creativity in digital and information technology initiatives that respond to and anticipate user needs and ensures that the library’s technology programs, services, and infrastructure are responsive to the academic needs of the Georgia State community. Department & Campus Environment:
The Digital Library Services department uses open source and standard web development practices to create and provide a library web presence, including content management, blogging, and wiki applications. The department is responsible for developing, customizing, and integrating various web applications from vendors and open source platforms used by both internal and external customers. The department works with campus computing to install and maintain computer hardware and software, networking capabilities, network and PC security, and computer workstations in the library. Leadership in the area of content digitization, storage, and presentation will be a growing component of this position. The library uses CONTENTdm to create and present our digital collections on the web, and LibGuides to present librarian created web content to our customers, and Ex Libris products including SFX, MetaLib, and Voyager as a member of the GALILEO state library consortium.

The Board of Library Trustees of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System—serving 841,315 suburban Maryland residents immediately north, east and south of the nation’s capital—seeks an experienced and energetic library leader as its next director. The System serves an increasingly diverse population—epitomizing the changing face of America—through 18 branches and an active outreach program. Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian

JOB SUMMARY:
The Marston Science Library, University of Florida Libraries, is seeking a creative and service-oriented reference and collection management librarian for the chemical sciences. The Chemistry Librarian provides reference assistance, instruction, outreach, and collection management to support programs dependent upon the chemical sciences. Primary focus is on the departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science Engineering. A key element of the assignment is the use of new technology to access and deliver information to library users. The librarian works collaboratively in group efforts and maintains close professional relationships with faculty, students and colleagues. The position is responsible for special projects such as collection reviews, monitoring UF science publications, and creation of web-based resources. The library encourages staff participation in reaching management decisions and consequently the Chemistry Librarian will serve on various committees and teams. The incumbent will pursue professional development opportunities, including research, publication, and professional association activities, to meet library-wide criteria for tenure and promotion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides traditional and electronic reference services for faculty, students and staff of the University of Florida, primarily in the science and technology areas. Participates in the provision of traditional reference desk, reference chat and email reference services. Proactively assists library patrons with the use of computer workstations.
2. Participates in instruction programs using traditional classroom methods and educational technologies.
3. Participates actively in the development, selection and evaluation of web resources for subject guides and other user services.
4. Develops and maintains web-based tutorials, videos, and multimedia projects related to chemistry information sources.
5. Participates in science collection management program, specifically chemical sciences. Selects and evaluates subject-based materials and works with faculty in selecting materials to support their academic and research programs.
6. Participates in planning, policy formation and departmental decision making related to science services, collections and new technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Masters degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school; equivalent advanced degree in library studies, information science, or science education; or an advanced degree in a scientific field involving chemistry.
2. Undergraduate degree in a scientific field involving chemistry, or experience serving a chemistry-related population.
3. Knowledge of scientific resources including chemistry-related sources such as SciFinder Scholar and CrossFire Commander.
4. Strong commitment to user-focused service.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of and enthusiasm for the integration of new technologies into the delivery of information services.
6. Proficient in the design and creation of web pages and web based materials.
